We are delighted to introduce
Dr Rob Hicks
We are thrilled to have Dr Rob Hicks on board as an independent expert. He highlights key issues faced by many older people, and others who have medical conditions, and discusses how well-designed mobility furniture can help them to improve health and quality of life.
What is a dual motor recliner chair?
Dual motor recliners are chairs equipped with two (or sometimes more) motors to power the back of the chair and the foot rest independently. Some models also have a third motor that powers the riser function and tips the seat base forward. This is particularly helpful for people with mobility issues who have difficulty standing up on their own.
Some of our mobility chairs come with additional features such as heat and/or massage, making them much more than just a chair.
If you, or your loved one, suffer from impaired or limited mobility due to arthritis or another condition, a dual motor recliner riser chair can help to restore quality of life.
Put simply, a dual motor recliner chair suits a range of people, from those who are struggling to sit down and stand up and want more independence, to others who simply seek a more relaxing place to enjoy at the end of a long day.
How does a dual motor recliner chair work?
Dual motor riser recliner chairs offer great versatility for anyone with mobility issues. Whether you need a little help getting up out of your chair, reclining slightly to watch television, or lying down for a nap, a dual motor recliner chair can do it all.
As the name suggests, dual motor riser recliners use two or more motors to operate the chair. The in-built motors work to adjust the angle of recline, the position of the foot rest, and even the base of the seat itself. All this is done through pressing a couple of buttons on the handset.
Our dual motor riser chairs are built to fit your own measurements. This means that getting into and out of the chair is as easy as it can possibly be, the strain is taken off your joints and quality of life gets better and better.
Single or dual motor recliner chairs?
When choosing a riser recliner chair, you’ll need to decide whether you want to opt for a single motor chair or a dual motor riser recliner chair. There are a few things to consider before making a decision.
Single motor recliner chairs are usually the budget-friendly option – they are cheaper because their mechanism is relatively simple. The motor powers both the back and foot rest at the same time, meaning that when the chair’s back is reclined, the foot rest rises automatically.
Controls of a single motor riser recliner chair are easy to use as their handsets have just two buttons. This makes them a good option for anyone who has trouble retaining information and/or who has been diagnosed with dementia.
However, many people actually require the flexibility of positions that is offered by a dual motor riser recliner chair. People looking to buy a recliner chair are seeking a chair that is extremely comfortable. Having more positions to choose from, enhances the user experience, and ultimately leads to better quality of life.
