Recliner chairs help people with limited mobility to sit in comfort – and make it considerably easier to sit down and stand up.

No matter your age, you should be able to relax in comfort. Our bespoke ranges of electric rise and recline chairs and sofas are designed to give you the ultimate seating experience, whether you have specific health needs or just want to put your feet up at the end of a long day.

Riser recliner chairs are some of the most comfortable chairs on the market, and provide an excellent seating solution for all customers, not just people with restricted mobility. So sit back and relax while we explain everything you need to know about recliner chairs.

How does a recliner work?

A recliner chair allows users to change their sitting position with the press of a button.

There’s a position for every scenario, whether you need a little help to stand, want to sit up straight to chat to friends or family, feel like reclining to watch TV, or fancy lying flat to catch forty winks.

Recliner chairs make use of an in-built motor, or a manual mechanism, to shift the user’s seating position. With a simple press of a button or push of a lever, users can adjust the position of their seat and the angle of recline.

Being able to adjust the angle of recline allows users to ease the strain on parts of the body experiencing discomfort, especially the feet, legs and lower back. We’ve all experienced numbness, aching or stiffness from sitting in the same position for too long; with a recliner, you can quickly and easily change position in a smooth and gentle manner.

The Mobility Furniture Company’s bespoke recliner chairs can include a rising function to make standing up easier, as well as a reclining function for total relaxation. A recliner chair can change your life.

How does a manual recliner work?

Manual recliners do not have an in-built motor or electric operating system; instead, users can shift the position of the seat using a lever or a manual push/pull mechanism. As manual recliners have a simpler operating system than electric recliners, they tend to have more limited functionality and generally offer a smaller range of reclined positions.

How does a power recliner work?

Power recliner chairs – or electric recliners – contain in-built motors that move the user’s seating position. Once it’s plugged in, users can adjust the angle of recline with a remote control. Whether you want your chair to rise so that standing is a little easier, or to recline and just relax, power recliners ease the strain on your joints and lighten your load.

Sitting comfortably in a recliner

To sit in an electric recliner, stand in front of the chair with the backs of your knees touching the edge of the seat. Make sure that your weight is evenly distributed, your feet are flat on the ground and gently lower yourself into the seat. Adjust the seat position using the simple remote control.

To stand up, use the remote control to tilt the seat forward. Push down on the arm rests to make standing easier, and make sure you distribute weight evenly across both feet as you stand.

Adjusting the seat position

At the Mobility Furniture Company, all of our riser recliners are electrically operated, so adjusting the position of the seat is as simple as pressing a button.

What to do if your recliner chair stops working?

If your recliner has stopped working, you should first check that it is connected to a power source. Unplugging the chair, and plugging it back in after two minutes, should reset any electrical problems.

If this does not resolve your issue, get in touch with us at The Mobility Furniture Company.

Remember that all of our mechanised items come with a five-year warranty. This includes cover for part replacements and a free home repair service in the case of breakdowns.
