Single Motor 2 Way Tilt in Space

Ideal for people with poor circulation, or swelling in the ankles or legs, the single motor 2 way tilt in space allows the user to elevate their legs without changing the angle of their back. The seat to back angle remains constant, preventing friction or shear as the seat moves. The chair can also rise and tilt to a standing position, enabling users with reduced mobility to be able to independently get in and out of the chair.

As the whole chair tilts back, it ensures your weight is evenly distributed, supporting your lower back and reducing pressure points. The chair is controlled by an easy-to-use 2 button handset and is available in a range of different sizes.

Mechanism specifications

  • One motor
  • Horizontal footrest elevation
  • Seat tilt to achieve high leg elevation allowing the back to tilt backwards without changing the angle of the back
  • Rise and tilt to standing position
  • VAL Technology (not available on low profile)
  • Weight Limit: 20 Stone (127kg), 25 Stone (158kg)
  • Handset: 2 buttons

Single Motor 3 Way (non wall hugger)

The single motor 3 way (non wall hugger) mechanism follows a conventional recliner action, whereby the angle between the back and seat increases as the chair reclines. The back reclines once the footrest has been elevated, allowing the seat to take pressure from the hips. It is also able to rise and tilt to a standing position, helping people with mobility or flexibility problems to get in and out of the chair.

This mechanism is available in a variety of sizes and weight options, and is controlled by an uncomplicated 2 button handset.

Mechanism specifications

  • One motor
  • Horizontal footrest elevation
  • Slight adjustment of seat to take pressure from hips
  • Back reclines once footrest is elevated
  • Rise and tilt to standing position
  • Weight Limit: 20 Stone (127kg), 25 Stone (158kg), 35 Stone (222kg)
  • Handset: 2 buttons

Single Motor Wallhugger

While most rise and recline chairs need a lot of room, wallhugger mechanisms allow for a rise and recline chair to move within it its own footprint. Rather than requiring space behind the chair for it to recline, these chairs slide forward whilst reclining backwards, allowing the chair to be placed as close as 6 inches in front of a wall and still recline perfectly. This makes it an ideal chair for flats, apartments and other small rooms. However, as the chair’s bottom half is pushed forward, the footrest will require increased space.

Wallhugger recliner chairs are controlled by a 2 button handset, and has the ability to tilt fully forward to assist with getting in and out of the chair.

Mechanism specifications

  • One motor
  • Horizontal footrest elevation
  • Backrest reclines as the chair moves forward away from the obstacle. A clearance of 5″ – 6″ is required behind chair
  • Rise and tilt to standing position
  • Weight Limit: 20 Stone (127kg)
  • Handset: 2 buttons

Dual Motor

Depending on the weight limit, this type of chair comes with two or three motors. A dual motor riser recliner chair contains all of the features a single motor riser recliner chair has, but it instead has a separate motor to control the footrest. The back and footrest therefore have separate motors and controls, offering increased levels of flexibility and allowing the user more freedom to find their desired position with optimum comfort. It can also raise to an almost standing position, helping the user get in and out of the chair.

Dual motor rise and recline chairs are available in numerous weight options, and depending on its specific mechanism, the handset will either have 4 ,5 or 6 buttons.

Mechanism specifications

  • Two or three motors, dependent upon weight limit
  • Independent horizontal footrest elevation
  • Independent backrest reclines to allow multiple positions to be achieved
  • Rise and tilt to standing position
  • Weight Limit: 20 Stone (127kg), 25 Stone (158kg), 35 Stone (222kg), 40 stone (254kg), 50 stone (317kg), 70 stone (444kg)
  • Handset: 4,5 or 6 buttons (dependent on mechanism)

Dual Motor Tilt in Space

This mechanism features two motors – one for the footrest and one for the backrest. The independent backrest allows more flexibility and lets the user find their desired position, but also allows high leg elevation without changing the angle of the back.

The chair is controlled with a simple-to-use 4 button handset, and has the ability to rise and tilt to a standing position, ideal for people who find difficulty in getting in and out of their chair.

VAL Technology – The Variable Angle Lift

The VAL Technology gives the facility to the carer or end user to change the angle at which the chair will lift and tilt the user forward. By changing the angle this will also increase the height at which the front of the seat lifts as well as the angle of the tilt.
