Purpose-Built Single Hi-Low Beds
The range of single hi-low beds at The Mobility Furniture Company is designed for homecare situations. A hi-low bed offers the functionality of a medical bed but looks like your other bedroom furniture.
A hi-low bed can raise up much higher than a regular adjustable bed so carers can choose the correct height for assisting or turning the person in the bed. The bed can also be lowered, helping the user to get out more easily. Features of adjustable beds are built into many hi-low beds too, enabling people to rest and sleep with their back at an incline or their legs elevated.

How do hi-low beds work?
Like our range of adjustable beds, the base of our hi-low beds has an assortment of joints, each of which rotates.
A simple handset allows you to choose between a wide range of lying and sleeping positions.
Almost-silent motors move each section, supporting the mattress and enabling you to find the most comfortable position.
A mechanism under the bed allows it to be raised up so that the individual can be assisted at a height that is comfortable for the carer.
What are the benefits of a single hi-low bed?
The health benefits of a single hi-low bed extend to the carer as well as the user. The person in the bed can be better looked after whilst staying at home because you can raise the bed up to a level at which it is easier to administer care. As the hi-low bed can also rise and recline, various health needs can be met too. For example, your legs and feet may be elevated to improve circulation and reduce pain. And you can rest or sleep at an incline instead of flat, better for acid reflux and some sleep conditions.
It is important to be able to change position when you are in bed so that pressure sores do not develop and inflamed areas get the chance to heal. If moving position yourself is difficult, simply press a button on your hi-low bed and it’s done for you. Don’t forget that caring itself can be physical hard work. A hi-low bed alleviates some of the strain as people can be cared for at a suitable level instead of the carer bending over. Plus being able to change position by pressing a button on the handset can make life a lot easier for carers.
