We are delighted to introduce
Dr Rob Hicks
We are thrilled to have Dr Rob Hicks on board as an independent expert. He highlights key issues faced by many older people, and others who have medical conditions, and discusses how well-designed mobility furniture can help them to improve health and quality of life.
Custom-made adjustable beds
One of the most important purchases that we ever make is our bed. Comfort at night is a key factor to how we feel during the day, often defining whether we feel relaxed and able to cope with the usual ups and downs. It also needs to look the part, and although they are designed primarily with your health in mind, we know you’ll want to opt for an adjustable bed that suits your individual style and flair.
Choose from six different collections and 400 gorgeous fabrics, from contemporary to more classic finishes and everything in between. Headboards can be upholstered in many gorgeous fabrics including damasks, chenille and wool; shallow or full height bases come with options for handy end or side drawers, wooden feet and USB charge points.
Leading adjustable beds for comfort and style
An adjustable bed is like a regular bed, but it can bend and fold in key places known as pivot points. The simplest have just one pivot point, at the waist – however, our adjustable beds have up to five, which means you can also raise the knees and lower legs. These extra points allow for much more precise positioning, leading to extra comfort, support… and sleep.
Most of our beds feature an electric motor mechanism, which means you can adjust your bed with a remote control whilst you’re lying down. Sleep with your head raised, your feet elevated (or both) or sit up entirely to read, watch television or even eat. Some models come with a heated massage function for that extra touch of luxury.
Bed linen
Reclining beds require sheets that are slightly different to regular sheets, as they need to change as the bed elevates and reclines and be comfortable in all positions.
To make sure you have the perfect linen for your new bed, we recommend bed sheets from Adjustable Bed Linen, our sister company. Its superb range of luxurious bed sheets are delightful to sleep in and competitively priced, so customers have access to just the right linen in terms of style, fabric and expense.
Health benefits of adjustable beds
Sleep is one factor that can be greatly improved from having a reclining bed, because more comfort means less waking up. A good night’s sleep is – while lack of sleep and insomnia can exacerbate existing health conditions and potentially lead to new physical and mental challenges.
As well as better sleep, lying in a slightly elevated position can improve some health issues, for example symptoms of indigestion such as acid reflux.
A mobility bed can also improve life for people who struggle with limited mobility or poor circulation. Stiff and painful legs? Try elevating them a little. Adjustable beds are specially designed for people with mobility challenges, either because they are elderly or due to a condition that requires more support from their bed in the long-term or short-term.
Adjustable bed sizes and mattress features
Adjustable beds come in single or double sizes – and if you would like one a little wider, narrower, higher or lower, no problem. ‘Single’ is self-explanatory. ‘Double’ means one double mattress that is operated as one unit. A third option is ‘dual’, which means two mattresses side by side that can be operated independently. Bedfellows can therefore continue sharing the same bed space whilst enjoying different resting or sleep positions.
The structures of adjustable beds are expertly designed so you can have total control over your sleeping position. Some of our adjustable beds make rising and getting out of bed a great deal easier too. All beds in our range are manufactured from the highest quality materials and engineered to last for many years. Wooden beds and timber bed frames are made from materials sourced from sustainable forests and processors who are FSC or PEFC certified.
The carefully selected products from The Mobility Furniture Company include a fantastic choice of mattress. Every physical need and preference is taken into account when it comes to adjustable bed mattress firmness, depth and even temperature regulation. Memory foam, pocket sprung and latex – and combinations of each – are all available, along with special finishes such as Coolmax. Washable or dry-clean zip-off covers can be chosen to aid health and hygiene even further.
Installation and warranty
The Mobility Furniture Company works hard to create adjustable beds that are aesthetically pleasing as well as practical. This isn’t the extent of our service, however. Thanks to our careful “white glove” installation, our customers don’t need to lift a finger – we’ll do it all for you and offer a five-year insurance-backed warranty.
The adjustable mechanisms on our electric beds are robust, smooth and quiet with built-in safety features. Timber for frames is sourced from sustainable forests and processors who are FSC or PEFC certified. You can rest assured knowing that your bed has been made with the best possible components, and is built to last.

How to choose the best adjustable bed
Sleep… essential for all but elusive for so many. We all know how important shut eye is for almost all aspects of health, but it doesn’t help those of us affected by sleeplessness and insomnia.

5 health benefits of adjustable beds
A good night’s sleep is important for everyone, and one way to ensure quality sleep is to have a comfortable bed. Additionally, lying in a horizontal position throughout the day causes a number of health-related issues such as bed sores and painful joints. This can impact on the quality of sleep you get.
